How It Works
. It is of Semi Synthetic origin. . The Molecular Weight of Artesunate is 384.42.
How to Take It
1
Adult · IM
2.4 mg/kg — As recommended.
Severe malaria: This dose is followed by 1.2mg/Kg at 12 and 24 hours then 1.2mg/Kg daily for 6 days. If the patient can swallow, the daily dose can be given orally.

Adult · IV
2.4 mg/kg — As recommended.
Severe malaria: This dose is followed by 1.2mg/Kg daily until the patient can take orally artesunate or another effective antimalarial drug.

Adult · PO
4 mg/kg — As recommended.
Monotherapy: 4mg/Kg loading dose on the first day followed by 2mg/Kg once a day for 6 days.

Side Effects
Get emergency medical help if you have signs of an allergic reaction: hivesdifficult breathingswelling of your facelipstongueor throat. Artesunate may cause serious side effects. Call your doctor at once if you have: jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes)pale or yellowed skindark colored urinefeverconfusion or weaknessor kidney problems --swellingurinating lessfeeling tired or short of breath. Common side effects of artesunate may include: kidney problemsjaundiceor abnormal urine tests. This is not a complete list of side effects and others may occur. Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects. You may report side effects to FDA at 1-800-FDA-1088.
