How It Works
Administered by SC only, usually into the lateral deltoid area.
How to Take It

Adult · IM,SC,Slow IV
0.25 to 0.5 mg — 6 hourly

Adult · Inhalation
0.25 to 0.5 mg — 6 hourly
Frequency may be increased upto 4 times/day if needed.

Adult · PO
2.5 to 5 mg — 8 hourly
Frequency may be increased upto 4 times/day if needed.

Child · Oral
0.05 to 0.15 mg/kg — 8 hourly

Child · Subcutaneous
0.005 to 0.01 mg/kg — As recommended.
Every 15---20 min. up to 2 doses
Safety Alerts
When used for uncomplicated premature labour: Abruptio-placenta, antepartum haemorrhage, cord compression, eclampsia, history of cardiac disease, intra-uterine infection or fetal death, placenta praevia, pulmonary hypertension, severe pre-eclampsia, risk factors for myocardial ischaemia, threatened miscarriage
Important Warnings
Mild to moderate pre-eclampsia, suspected cardiovascular disease, myocardial insufficiency, angina, cardiac arrhythmias, hypertension, hyperthyroidism, young children
Side Effects
Muscle tensionnauseapulmonary oedema (with injection use) vomitingtremorperipheral vasodilationtensionheadachesleep and behavioural disturbances in children.
