How It Works
Administer by IV Infusion, usually over 90 min. D5W (500 ml) is the preferred diluent for most doses. Solutions diluted in NS may precipitate if refrigerated. Dilute in D5W or NS to a final cons of 0.122.8 mg/ml. Due to the relatively acidic pH, irinotecan appears to be more stable in D5W than NS, D5W (500 ml) is the preferred diluent for most doses.

Safety Alerts
Chronic inflammatory bowel disease, bowel obstruction, hepatic impairment, renal impairment, severe myelosuppression
Important Warnings
Irinotecan should be used with caution in patients with history, including any allergy (especially drug allergies), history of radiation treatments, diabetes, liver or lung disease
Use of laxatives should be avoided since Irinotecan may cause diarrhea
Limit alcohol intake since it may aggravate side effects
To avoid dizziness and lightheadedness, get up slowly, when rising from a seated or lying position
This drug is not recommended for use during pregnancy or lactation
Caution is advised when this drug is used in the elderly
