How to Take It

Safety Alerts

You should not take sodium chloride if you have ever had an allergic reaction to it, or if you have high sodium levels in your blood
To make sure you can safely take sodium chloride, tell your doctor if you have any of these other conditions: high blood pressure
liver disease (especially cirrhosis )
a buildup of fluid around your lungs (also called pleural effusion )
fluid retention (especially swelling in your ankles or feet )

Important Warnings

Cardiac failure, reduced urinary output due to obstructive urinary tract diseases, hypertonic dehydration
Sodium Chloride content of this solution is 9 gm/litre whereas, the daily requirement, renal failure due to renal diseases of NaCI for an adult is 3-6 gm
Therefore, care should be taken in those cases where salt intake is restricted as in oedema, hypertension etc

Side Effects

Cerebralpulmonary and peripheral oedemaacidosis and electrolyte imbalance may occur with a large volume and/or rapid infusioncongestive heart failure
