Myasthenia gravis (but may be used to decrease muscarinic side-effects of anticholinesterases), paralytic ileus, pyloric stenosis, toxic megacolon, and prostatic enlargement, coma, stupor, iodine sensitivity
Important Warnings
Downs syndrome, elderly, gastro-esophageal reflux disease, ulcerative colitis, autonomic neuropathy, acute myocardial infarction, hypertension, conditions characterized by tachycardia (including hyperthyroidism, cardiac insufficiency, cardiac surgery), pyrexia, and in individuals susceptible to angle-closure glaucoma
Side Effects
Constipationtransient bradycardia (followed by tachycardiapalpitation and arrhythmias)reduced bronchial secretionsurinary urgency and retentiondilatation of the pupils with loss of accommodationphoto-phobiadry mouthflushing and dryness of the skinconfusion (particularly in the elderly)nauseavomitingand giddiness. Rare: Angle-closure glaucoma may occur.
