Hernia, inflammatory bowel disease, intestinal obstruction, previous abdominal surgery, hepatic or severe renal impairment, colonic ulceration, intestinal obstruction, chronic digestive or absorption disorders, conditions exacerbated by flatulence
Important Warnings
In renal impairment, avoid if eGFR less than 25 ml/minute/1
May enhance hypoglycaemic effects of insulin and sulfonylureas (hypoglycaemic episodes may be treated with oral glucose but not with sucrose)
Monitor hepatic transaminase, review treatment if persistently elevated
