How It Works

Inject deep IM into large mass muscle. IV: Ceftazidime can be administered IVP over 3-5 min or IV intermittent infusion over 15-30 min; final concentration for IV administration should not exceed 100 mg/ ml. Rotate IV sites every 72 hours. Assess for phlebitis and extravasation. For IV bolus, reconstitute 1-2 gm with 10 ml SWFI, D5W, or NaCI. Shake to dissolve. For intermittent infusion, further dilute in 50-100 ml D5W or NS. IM: Reconstitute each gm with 3 ml SWFI or bacteriostatic water for injection.

How to Take It

1 to 6 g — 8 hourly
or twice daily if needed.

30 to 100 mg/kg — As recommended.
In two to three divided doses

You should not use ceftazidime injection if you have ever had a severe allergic reaction to an antibiotic, such as: cefadroxil , cefdinir, cefoxitin , cefprozil , ceftriaxone , cefuroxime , cephalexin , Keflex, Omnicef, and others
avibactam, relebactam, sulbactam, tazobactam, vaborbactam, and others
or amoxicillin (Amoxil, Augmentin , Moxatag), ampicillin , dicloxacillin , oxacillin , penicillin, and others
Tell your doctor if you have ever had: an allergy to any drug (especially penicillin)
