Ceftazidime Pentahydrate are the derivatives of Ceftazidime. It is of Semi Synthetic origin and belongs to Cephalosporin. It belongs to Peptidoglycan synthesis inhibitor pharmacological group on the basis of mechanism of action and also classified in Antibiotic, Cephalosporin-3rd Gen pharmacological group. The Molecular Weight of Ceftazidime is 546.70. Its pKa is 1.8, 2.7, 4.1.
How to Take It

Adult · IV,IM
1 to 6 g — 8 hourly
or twice daily if needed.

Child · IV
30 to 100 mg/kg — As recommended.
In two to three divided doses

Child · IV
150 mg/kg — As recommended.
To maximum of 6g daily

9 g — As recommended.

Ceftazidime can cause serious or life-threatening allergic reactions
You should not use ceftazidime injection if you have ever had a severe allergic reaction to an antibiotic, such as: cefadroxil , cefdinir, cefoxitin , cefprozil , ceftriaxone , cefuroxime , cephalexin , Keflex, Omnicef, and others
avibactam, relebactam, sulbactam, tazobactam, vaborbactam, and others
or amoxicillin (Amoxil, Augmentin , Moxatag), ampicillin , dicloxacillin , oxacillin , penicillin, and others
Tell your doctor if you have ever had: an allergy to any drug (especially penicillin)
Important Warnings
Hepatic or renal impairment, cardiac disorders, diabetes mellitus, elderly, history of bipolar depression, history of seizures, history of urinary retention, hypotension, psychoses, susceptibility to angle-closure glaucoma or increased intra-ocular pressure, organic brain syndrome, diabetes, angina, recent MI, prostatic hypertrophy
Monitor patients for suicidal ideation
Discontinue if jaundice occurs
Dose increases may be detrimental in patients who develop akathisia
Withdraw gradually
