How It Works

Administer by IV intermittent infusion; final concentration should not exceed 5 mg/ml; in fluid-restricted patients, a final concentration of 7 mg/ml has been administered; dose < 500 mg may be infused over 15-30 min; dose > 500 mg should be infused over 40-60 min. Administer by deep IM injection into a large muscle mass (such as the gluteal muscles or lateral part of the thigh) with a 21-gauge 2-inch needle. Aspiration is necessary to avoid inadvertent injection into a blood vessel.
