How to Take It

Adult · IM
200 to 800 mg — 24 hourly

Adult · PO
200 to 400 mg — 12 hourly
For the treatment of schizophrenia: upto 1200mg twice daily may be given in patients with positive symptoms or upto 800 mg in patients with mainly negative symptoms.

25 to 25 mg — 8 hourly
For GERD, irritable bowel disease (IBS), dyspeptic syndrome, essential cephalgia.

Child · PO
3 to 5 mg/kg — As recommended.
This is the dose for children above 14 years of age. (i.e. 3-5mg/Kg daily)
Safety Alerts
Epilepsy, hyperprolactinaemia, mania, GI hemorrhage, comatose states, CNS depression, pheochromocytoma
Important Warnings
Should be use with caution in porphyria, renal impairment and mania and in patients receiving antihypertensive, hypnotic and analgesic drugs, because concurrent use may increase the effects of these drugs
Should be given with care to hypomanic patients
