What is TYPBAR?

Uses
It is used to prevent typhoid disease.

How It Works

It should be administered intramuscularly in the deltoid or the vastus lateralis of children below two years of age. It should not be injected into the gluteal area or areas where there may be a nerve trunk. Do not administer intravenously, intradermally, or subcutaneously. It should not be mixed with other vaccine or medicinal products in the same syringe. Prevention becomes effective in 2-3 weeks after immunization.

How to Take It

Safety Alerts

Hypersensitivity to any constituent of the vaccine, pregnant & lactating women, fever or severe infection

Important Warnings

Vaccine should be used with caution in patients with any illness, infection, allergy or if patients receiving radiation therapy
It should be used during pregnancy or lactation only if clearly needed
The vaccine should be postponed in subjects suffering from acute febrile illness
The vaccine protects against typhoid fever caused by Salmonella typhi
Protection is not conferred against parathyroid fever or illness caused by non-invasive Salmonellae
Vaccine has not been evaluated in children under 2 years of age
Nevertheless, it is known that the children under this age may show a sub-optimal response to polysaccharide antigen vaccines
The decision to use the vaccine in this age group should be based upon the risk of exposure to disease

Side Effects

Fever and pain at injection-site and swellingwithin the first 48 hours after vaccination that disappears within 2 days. Rare: Tendernessitchingarthralgiacoldcoughvomiting and myalgia.
