Mannitol also known as Manna sugar and Mannite. It is of Synthetic origin and belongs to Sugar Alcohol. The Molecular Weight of Mannitol is 182.20. It is weakly acidic drug, 5.07% solution of the drug is isotonic.
How to Take It

Adult · IV Inf
0.2 g/ kg/dose — As recommended.
Test Dose, Max. 12.5gm over 3-5 min, If there is no diuresis within 2 hrs. discontinue mannitol

0.25 to 0.5 g/ kg/dose — 6 hourly
Maintenance dose

0.5 to 1 g/ kg/dose — As recommended.

Safety Alerts
You should not receive mannitol if you are allergic to it, or if you have: severe or long-term kidney disease
swelling or congestion in your lungs
severe heart failure
bleeding in your brain that is not related to surgery
severe dehydration
Important Warnings
You should not receive mannitol if you have severe kidney disease, lung swelling or congestion, severe heart failure , severe dehydration , bleeding in your brain not caused by surgery, or if your kidneys have already shut down and you are unable to urinate
Side Effects
Get emergency medical help if you have signs of an allergic reaction: hivesdifficult breathingswelling of your facelipstongueor throat. Tell your caregivers right away if you have: swelling in your hands or lower legsrapid weight gainlittle or no urinationshortness of breath (even while lying down)wheezinggasping for breathcough with foamy mucuschest painfast heartbeatsheadache
