Adrenaline also known as Epinephrine. It is of Natural origin and belongs to Catecholamine. It belongs to Alpha & Beta adrenergic agonist pharmacological group on the basis of mechanism of action and also classified in Drugs used in Shock and Sympathomimetic pharmacological group.The Molecular Weight of Adrenaline is 183.20. It is weakly acidic drug, 4.24% solution of the drug is isotonic and Its pKa is 8.7, 10.2, 12.

How to Take It

Adult · Eye Drops
0.5 to 2 % — As recommended.
use in 5-10 mintues after administration of a mitotic eye drop For open angle Glaucoma

500 to 1000 mcg — As recommended.
Adrenaline should be given every 5 minutes For Anaphylaxis, Bronchospam and allergy.

Safety Alerts

Atrioventricular block, application to the middle ear (risk of ototoxicity), avoid injection into infected or inflamed tissues, preparationscontaining preservatives should not be used for caudal,epidural, or spinal block, or for intravenous regionalanaesthesia (Biers block),severe myocardial depression

Congestive cardiac failure, debilitated patients, elderly,epilepsy, hypovolaemia,impaired cardiac conduction, impaired respiratory function,acute porphyria, myasthenia gravis, post cardiac surgery, shock, renal and hepatic impairment
To avoid excessive dosage inobese patientsdose should be calculated on the basis ofideal body-weight

Side Effects

Bradycardia and hypotension (may lead to cardiac arrest)confusionconvulsionsdizzinessdrowsinessparaesthesiarespiratory depression. Rare: Anaphylaxis
