How to Take It

1500 mg — As recommended.
Single dose in combination with Pyrimethamine 75 mg.

33.33 mg/kg — As recommended.
For Once, Dose for Paeds of 4-12 Yrs.

Sulfadoxine is contraindicated in conditions like Blood dyscrasias, Renal diseases, Hypersensitivity

Important Warnings

Sulfadoxine should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy
It should be used with caution in patients with pre-existing blood disorders, anemia, liver disease, kidney disease, severe allergies, asthma or a history of seizures or any allergy, especially to sulfa medications

Side Effects

The severe or irreversible adverse effects of Sulfadoxinewhich give rise to further complications include HepatitisPneumonitis. Sulfadoxine produces potentially life-threatening effects which include Mucocutaneous reaction. which are responsible for the discontinuation of Sulfadoxine therapy. The signs and symptoms that are produced after the acute overdosage of Sulfadoxine include NauseaVomitingConvulsionsExcitationAnorexiaHematological toxicity. The symptomatic adverse reactions produced by Sulfadoxine are more or less tolerable and if they become severethey can be treated symptomaticallythese include HeadacheFatigueFeverRashesStomatitisPruritus
