Safety Alerts
You should not use zidovudine if you are allergic to it

Get emergency medical help if you have unusual muscle pain, trouble breathing, irregular heartbeats, dizziness, vomiting, or if you feel cold, tired, or very weak
Zidovudine can lower blood cells that help your body fight infections and help circulate oxygen
Zidovudine can also cause severe or life-threatening effects on your liver
Call your doctor if you have symptoms such as: fever, flu symptoms, unusual tiredness, mouth sores, pale skin, cold hands and feet, upper stomach pain, dark urine, or jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes)
Side Effects
Get emergency medical help if you have signs of an allergic reaction (hivesdifficult breathingswelling in your face or throat) or a severe skin reaction (feversore throatburning in your eyesskin painred or purple skin rash that spreads and causes blistering and peeling). Mild symptoms of lactic acidosis may worsen over timeand this condition can be fatal. Get emergency medical help if you have: unusual muscle paintrouble breathingstomach painvomitingirregular heart ratedizzinessfeeling coldor feeling very weak or tired. Zidovudine may cause serious side effects. Call your doctor at once if you have: low blood cell counts --fever
Drug Interactions
Tell your doctor about all your other medicines
especially: doxorubicin
ribavirin
stavudine
or other medicines that contains zidovudine (including combination drugs such as Combivir or Trizivir ). This list is not complete. Other drugs may affect zidovudine

Storage
Inj (reconstituted soln) Store at room temperature or refrigerator. Use within 24 hrs if refrigerated and within 8 hrs if kept at room temperature. Oral Syrup Store Between 15°C-25°C. Protect from Sunlight. Tab, Caps Store at room temperature, Below 30°C. Refrigeration and Freezing is not recommended. Protect from Sunlight and Moisture.
