How to Take It

0.285 to 0.429 mg/ kg — 6 hourly
Initial

0.714 to 2.143 mg/ kg — 24 hourly
Maintenance for 6 Months

50 to 100 mg — 24 hourly
At bedtime, increased gradually to 150 mg/day.

0.4 to 0.8 mg/kg — 24 hourly

Safety Alerts
Arrhythmias, acute porphyrias, during manic phase of bipolar disorder, heart block, immediate recovery period after myocardial infarction, severe liver disorder
Important Warnings
Cardiovascular disease (risk of sudden death), hepatic impairment (avoid if severe), diabetes, epilepsy, history of bipolar disorder, history of psychosis or mania, chronic constipation, hyperthyroidism, increased intra-ocular pressure, patients with risk of suicide, phaeochromocytoma, prostatic hypertrophy, susceptibility to angle-closure glaucoma, urinary retention, withdraw gradually
